These quilts require the artist to hand-apply surface design
to cloth through a variety of methods. The fabric is hand dyed.
I then touch the surface of the cloth with a variety of
media - paint, thickened dye, embellishment, thread, spackle,
more cloth to produce textures and layers, with surprising results.
Think action words like: apply, scratch, scrunch, pucker, rushe,
splash, discharge, and stitch. I am still in a process of "discovering
and forming," in an external and internal layering process.
